Adult Immunization Guidelines

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccine (Gardasil- to prevent Cervical Cancer)
For all females between 11 and 26 years of age.
Consists of one series of 3 vaccines.
Influenza (Flu) Vaccine
Recommended annually for patients 6 months and older, especially:
- those at high risk (people who have diabetes, heart, lung, kidney or immune disease, pregnant women, etc.),
- those who are in contact with high risk patients, or
- those who care for infants less than 6 months old
Pneumococcal Vaccine (for Pneumonia)
For all adults over 65 years old at average risk; initial vaccination only, no revaccination required
For all smokers and adults at high risk (diabetes, cancer, heart, lung, or immune disease); initial vaccination, and single revaccination 5 years later
Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis Vaccine
For all adults
Recommend every 10 years
Varicella Zoster Vaccine (for Shingles)
For adults over 50 years of age
Single vaccination; no revaccination required
